Aoife Dowd is a Connemara based artist from the Gaeltacht area of Carna, Conamara, Co Galway.
This area of Connemara has a huge influence on her artistic work. Growing up in this place rich in culture, heritage and stunning views had a great impact on her creativity.
She began her creative studies in The Grennan Mill Craft School, Thomastown, Co Kilkenny. Later went on to receive both her Honours degree and Hdip from the Limerick School of Art and Design.
Aoife creates work for exhibitions as well as taking on some commissions throughout the year.
Aoife works mainly through the medium of oil paint. The richness and depth of colour is a fundamental part of her
creative expression.
Inspiration comes from her surroundings, Connemara, the ever changing moods, colours, light and vibrancy.
Endeavouring to capture more than just a scene, Aoife conveys the energy she perceives in a landscape or place through her process and materials.
